PhD Quantum Engineering
September 2019 – July 2024
University College London and Quantum Motion (London, United Kingdom)
- Title: Automation and Scaling of Fast Charge Readout in Silicon Quantum Dots
-
Project focus was a fast platform for measuring new silicon quantum dot designs and evaluating
whether they could form effective host structures for spin qubits
-
Charge readout was made faster with reflectometry; here, the resonator required (with large
footprint) could be shared between quantum dots by using a multiplexer switch to connect each to
the resonator in turn
-
Designed and assembled printed circuit boards (PCBs), made cryogenic measurements of quantum dots
connected via a multiplexing switch to shared readout circuit and analysed data to benchmark speed
and sensitivity
-
As well as investigating multiple discrete multiplexer parts separate from the quantum dot chip,
the throughput was increased to 1024 dots in one experiment by using switching electronics
integrated on the same chip as the dots
-
Contributed to design and implementation of automated control and analysis code for a measurement
on this scale
